A credit card surcharge is a small fee added when a client chooses to pay with a credit card. It helps cover the cost of processing card payments so you don’t have to absorb those fees into your business. With SalonBiz, a 3% surcharge is automatically applied to eligible credit card transactions, keeping everything simple and compliant.

When a client pays with a credit card in-store:
- a 3% surcharge is automatically calculated
- it’s clearly shown before payment is completed
- it appears as a separate line item on the receipt
Tips are always kept separate and are not included in the surcharge.
No, surcharging only applies to credit card payments and does not apply to debit cards (even if “credit” is selected), prepaid cards, tips, or online payments. SalonBiz automatically ensures surcharges are only applied where allowed so you stay compliant.
Surcharging is regulated by card networks and local laws, and while you’re responsible for following local requirements (such as signage and disclosure) SalonBiz is built to align with Visa and Mastercard rules by:
