Frequently asked questions
SalonBiz is best optimized for the latest version of Google Chrome. Using Chrome ensures the best performance and compatibility with system features.
SalonBiz requires an active internet connection. If your connection becomes unstable, you can use a wireless hotspot or backup internet source to continue working until service is restored by your provider.
No. Your client information, appointments, and transaction history will transfer to the latest version of SalonBiz.
SalonBiz is not optimized for tablet web browsers. For the best experience, use the dedicated SalonBiz iPad app, which allows you to access the Appointment Book, view client information, and complete checkout.
Appointments are created directly from the Appointment Book. Click Create in the upper-right corner or double-click a time slot, search for a client, add services, and click Create to finalize. For a video overview of booking workflows, view the Booking Efficiencies article.
Double-click a time slot or click the Plus (+) button to open the Block Details panel. Blocks can be adjusted by dragging and dropping to move them or resizing them to change the duration. For step-by-step instructions, view the Blocking the Book article.
Shifts must be opened from a PC workstation (not supported on iPad or Stylist app). Navigate to Open / Close > Shifts and click Open Shift. Choose either Card Only Shift or Count Cash, depending on your needs. For detailed steps, view the Opening article.
Receipt printing requires a locally installed printer and the SalonBiz POS hardware client. Enable the Use Local POS Hardware Client setting under Admin > Locations and ensure the QZ Tray application is installed. For full setup instructions, view the Receipt Printing article.
No. For security and payroll accuracy, staff can only clock in from devices registered and authorized by a system administrator. If a device is not registered, the system will prevent the clock-in. For management steps, view the Time Clock Administration Guide.
Security settings are managed under Admin > Staff > Security Settings. From this page, you can secure specific features, create security groups, and assign staff access based on role. For a complete walkthrough, view the Security article.
Create a generic staff profile (for example, “FrontDesk1”) with no assigned security group. Log the workstation in using this account, and individual staff members will enter their unique PIN when accessing secure functions. This allows the station to remain logged in while maintaining individual security checkpoints. For setup instructions, view the Front Desk Workstation article.
For security purposes, SalonBiz automatically logs users out after 15 minutes of inactivity to help protect sensitive business and client information.
